Reinvigorate Your Health with This Liver Cleansing Diet

Everybody has heard of the popular detoxifying liver cleansing diets. In most cases they are linked to phrases similar to “get rid of 5 pounds with this magic unbelievable liver cleanse diet”. This title certainly attracts audience, but is it really true? Not entirely.

While these diets can be truly useful in helping people lose weight, once they come back to their eating routine, the odds are they are prone to gaining back all the pounds they lost. So, they get right back where they started.

In order for a liver cleanse diet to be truly effective, you have to keep your vital organs fully nourished, the liver in particular. For accomplishing that, you needn’t fast or starve by drinking juices for seven days. Juicing and fasting have their place but that is not what we’re speaking about today.

Why your body needs a proper liver cleanse

A liver cleansing diet can significantly contribute to improving your health. How? This is mainly because more than 80 percent of the liver’s functions concentrate on detoxifying potentially harmful compounds and oxidants as well. In simpler terms, the liver behaves like a filter that stops the toxic substances in your body to enter your blood.

The liver also helps controls blood sugar levels, and if it fails to do that, this will result in fatigue, weariness, weight gain and, in some cases, even diabetes.

The liver also regulates the formation of special enzymes that digest fat. This is why, without a liver functioning properly, a lot of people will find it almost impossible to lose weight. Plus, a clogged liver is most likely to affect your energy, while influencing your overall health.

As soon as you take care of your liver, it will work more effectively. This way, you will feel increasingly better, reinvigorated and filled with energy. It sounds appealing, doesn’t it?

For this reason, we have come up with a  liver cleansing diet plan that will help you to regain your health and positive disposition. The people who tried this diet plan relished amazing results and improved health. Once you begin implementing these changes into your everyday routine, you will feel like a new person.

This is not a quick fix diet.  This would ideally become a way of life. A way of eating that would make a significantly great change in your health.

Cut down on alcohol

Drinking plenty of alcoholic drinks seriously harms your liver. For this reason, during your detoxifying time, steer clear of drinking any type of alcoholic beverages. It may be hard, but it’s totally worth it, for the sake of your health!

Hydrate your body

Another important aspect of a liver cleansing diet is drinking at least 1/2 ounce of water for each pound of your body weight (so if you weigh 160 Pounds you will need to drink 80 ounces of water a day.)  This will regulate the proper functioning of the kidneys, which are very important as well in the whole detoxifying process your body carries out.

Steer clear of sparkly drinks that will only slow down your digestion, and instead, opt for fresh water (filtered or alkaline not reverse osmosis or faucet water) or natural vegetable juice.  Avoid all sodas, energy drinks and things of that nature.

Eliminate processed, sugary foods

It is only obvious that if you wish to regain your body’s health you need to eliminate processed, sugary foods, which are only an endless source of detrimental chemicals.

You need to consider limiting the amount of chemicals you ingest on a regular basis. Think that besides the chemicals that can be found in all our foods and drinks, we also get into contact with a myriad of external environmental toxins. They adversely harm the functioning of the liver and digestive tract.

They might be the comfortable, more convenient option to cooking a meal, but, you need to consider choosing your personal well-being over comfort. Liver cleansing is all about making the right choices that will allow you to enhance your health.

Eat more raw fruit and vegetable portions

It is very important that you buy quality vegetables and fruits this is why I highly recommend always buying organic. Also almost as important is to find way to cleanse all vegetables and fruit. I prefer an acid wash from my Kangen water machine but there are many other less expensive effective options out there.  Your detoxing your body its best do this as chemically free as you can.  

A golden rule you should abide by when going for a liver cleansing diet is to eat a wide range of fruit and vegetable portions. For this exact reason, include at least one fruit or veggie at every meal, given the fact that they are filled with healthy enzymes, powerful antioxidants, and various phytonutrients. Together, they work for supporting your overall health.

Liver cleansing diets are also recommended for dogs, and they are believed to extend our little friends’ life expectancy. Dr. Doods liver cleansing diet includes plenty of raw foods, and is believed to be highly effective, especially in canines dealing with liver dysfunctions.

  • Veggies and lemons
    Leafy Green Vegetables
    are an essential part of your daily diet healthy liver.   They can be added to your favorite juicing recipe, eaten raw in your salad or gently steamed.  Kale and spinach are my favorite steamed veggies.  They help cleanse your liver by removing ingested environmental toxins.
  • Broccoli, Cauliflower, Celery and Cabbage are powerful vegetables in flushing the toxins from your system gently.
  • Beets and Carrots are great for improving your liver function.
  • Avocados also cleanse your liver and give you healthy fats in your diet as mentioned  below.
  • Grapefruits, Lemons and Limes Bring on the citrus fruits in moderation of course.  These fruits are powerful in flushing out the toxins in the liver while stimulating the liver to aid in digestion and generate energy for your body.
  • Apples are one of the livers best friends.  Ever heard the phrase, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away?”  It might be a little over exaggeration but it certainly helps your liver by cleansing and removing toxins from it!  It also helps increase your energy level I recommend you add one as your afternoon snack to get your through the day.

There are many more wonderful vegetables and fruits that are helpful to your liver these are just the most my top pics. Often times we find our self’s so busy with our daily schedules the easiest way to get our vegetables and fruits in is by adding a quick blended drink to our day.  I’m not recommending that you live on this but as a quick snack or meal replacement in a hurry its a great nutritious solution. Below you will find a few of my most favorite juicing recipes be sure to try them in moderation. If you don’t have a fancy juicing machine you can use a heavy duty blender a great kitchen appliances to think about adding in a Ninja.  I bought mine at Costco and I use it all the time.

  • 3 Organic Carrots (washed, peeled and cut into cubes)
  • 1 Organic Beet (washed, peeled and cut into cubes)
  • 2 Organic Red Apples (washed and cut)
  • 6 Organic Kale Leaves (copped)
  • ½ inch of ginger root (cleaned then grated)
  • ½ organic lemon, peeled (remove the seeds and cut up if using a blender)
  • Clean pure drinking water you will need 1 – 2 Cups
  • 2-4 Ice cubes

If you are using a Ninja blender like I do you will need to cut your fruits and vegetables into cube sized pieces.  Add all the above then blend and enjoy!

  • 1 Organic Beet (peeled and washed)
  • 6 Stalks of Organic Celery (washed and cut into cubes)
  • 1 Cup of Cilantro (washed and chopped)
  • ½ organic lemon, peeled (remove the seeds and cut up if using a blender)
  • ½ inch of ginger root (cleaned then grated)
  • Clean pure drinking water you will need 1 – 2 Cups
  • 2-4 Ice cubes

Add all the above then blend and enjoy!  You can add and apple if you need a little sweet taste to this.  It’s more of a savory recipe.  I even like 1/4 tsp of cayenne pepper in this one.

Include healthy fats in your meals

Equally essential is eating plenty of healthy fats on a regular basis. Healthy fats are vital for restoring your overall health, helping to construct healthy cell membranes around the liver. On the other hand, you need to eliminate processed fat oils, margarine, preserved meats and deep fried meat, as tempting and alluring they may appear to you. And instead, replace them with healthy fatty items.

By healthy fats, I am referring to seeds, such as flaxseeds for instance. You can have these every day as they will imminently improve your digestion as well. Also, foods such as avocado, salmon, herring, sardines, shrimp, all kinds of nuts and seeds are positive additions to your meals.


The key to a successful liver cleanse diet is diversity. There is an abundance of liver detox diets that promise to help you lose weight and become a whole new person in one week. However, if you want to regain your health, you need to try to alter your lifestyle. Begin by implementing this set of changes, and, in time, they will become part of your way of life.

Also, allowing yourself to embrace diversity is a positive idea for preserving your health. Try to consume a wide range of foods, in order to supply your body’s nutritional needs. There are numerous vegetarians who are utterly strict about their diet and deal with weariness and fatigue because of an insufficient protein intake.

Allow what you eat to be your medicine

And last, but not least, if you want your health to be restored, you need to let the food you eat be your medicine. This means that, if you eat the right foods, plenty of raw fruits and vegetables, and eliminate the ones that are harmful to you, your health will be reinvigorated. Also, you’ll feel much better and younger!
